If you are unsatisfied with the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles around your eyebrows and forehead, you may be interested in Dysport injections!
What is Dysport used for?
Dysport is approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for use in treating moderate to severe glabellar wrinkles and fine lines for any individual under the age of 65 that does not have any contraindications. The glabellar wrinkles and fine lines refer to those that are located on your forehead, between your eyebrows, and above your nose.
With that in mind, Dysport injections can be used for forehead wrinkles and frown lines, which are commonly referred to as “elevens” due to their shape and appearance. Your provider will ensure that Dysport injections are safe for you during a consultation before the initial treatment session.
What are Dysport injections?
Dysport injections are a minimally invasive cosmetic treatment used to treat fine lines and wrinkles in the glabellar area of the face. They function similarly to Botox injections, as both cosmetic treatments use neuromodulators to treat fine lines and wrinkles in the glabellar area.
As a neuromodulator, Dysport injections work by temporarily disrupting communication signals between the nerve endings in the treatment area and neurotransmitters from the brain. This disruption causes a temporary cessation of muscle activity in the treatment area, which gives your skin the reprieve and time it needs to relax and soften fine lines and wrinkles. The primary causes of fine lines and wrinkles are muscle contractions from various facial expressions and decreased collagen and elastin production, making it more difficult for your skin to return to form following repeated muscle contractions. As such, Dysport injections are an anti-aging solution.
During a Dysport injection, your Dysport provider will begin cleaning the treatment area and marking the precise injection sites. There are up to five injection points between and above the eyebrows where Dysport can be injected. After marking the injection sites, your Dysport provider may apply a topical anesthetic to minimize discomfort and prevent pain during the injection. With that being said, the injections should not cause much more than a slight pinch and some pressure. The injections should not take more than a few minutes, and once you are done, you should be able to resume your day without complication as there is no downtime required.
Most patients begin to notice results from Dysport injections within two to three days after treatment, which can last for up to five months after treatment.
